Rhodes Airport to Faliraki, Lindos & Every Resort: Distances and Transfer Times

5 October 2026 · 5 min read · Transfer Rhodes by Rodos Tours

Rhodes is bigger than many visitors expect: the island is about 80 km long, and its most popular resorts sit on both coasts. Rhodes Airport (RHO) is on the north-west coast, so resorts nearby such as Ialyssos and Ixia are only minutes away, while Lindos, Pefkos and Kiotari in the south-east are close to an hour's drive.

Knowing the transfer time helps you plan your first day, choose between an early check-in and a lunch stop, and decide whether a private car or a shared shuttle bus that stops at several hotels makes more sense for you.

Distances and drive times from Rhodes Airport

The figures below are approximate for a private transfer driving directly to your hotel. In July and August, allow a little extra time around Rhodes Town and Faliraki.

West coast: Ialyssos and Ixia

The closest resorts to the airport. The coastal road runs straight from Paradisi through Kremasti to Ialyssos and Ixia, so you will usually be at your hotel within a quarter of an hour. These beaches are popular with windsurfers thanks to the steady afternoon breeze.

Rhodes Town

The island capital is roughly 20 to 30 minutes away. If you are staying inside the medieval Old Town, your driver will drop you at the nearest gate, since cars cannot enter the walled streets. East coast: Kallithea, Faliraki, Afandou and Kolymbia

From the airport the road crosses the island inland, so the east coast resorts are closer than they look on the map. Faliraki, the island's liveliest resort, is around 25 to 30 minutes away, and Kolymbia, with its quieter beaches and family hotels, is just over half an hour.

South-east: Lindos, Pefkos and Kiotari

Lindos, with its whitewashed village and ancient acropolis above the bay, is the most famous destination on the island and the longest common transfer, at roughly 45 to 55 minutes. Pefkos sits just beyond it and Kiotari a little further south. For these longer trips a private transfer makes the biggest difference: shared shuttle buses often stop at many hotels on the way, which can double the journey time.

Private transfer or shared shuttle?

  • Private transfer: goes directly to your hotel, leaves when you arrive, and the driver waits if your flight is late. Priced per vehicle, so it gets cheaper per person the more of you travel together.
  • Shared shuttle: cheaper for solo travellers, but you wait for other passengers and stop at several hotels. To Lindos or Kiotari this can add a lot of time.
  • Rule of thumb: for 2 or more people, or for any resort more than 30 minutes away, a private transfer is usually the better value.

Booking tips

  • Send your hotel name and flight number. That is all we need for an instant fixed price.
  • Travelling with children? Ask for child seats when you book. They are free on request.
  • Large group or lots of sports gear? A 9-seat minivan or a 20-seat Mercedes Sprinter fits everyone and their luggage in one vehicle.
  • Return trip: we usually recommend leaving your hotel about 3 hours before your flight in high season, and earlier from Lindos or Kiotari.
